On December 4, 2025, the finals of Jiangxi Province’s First Social Work and Volunteer Service Project Competition successfully concluded at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics. Under the dedicated guidance of Teachers Wang Hongbo and Yin Weiwei, the JUFE team—comprising Yu Xiaoli, Li Jinxin, Huang Yanting, Cheng Xinyuan, Li Tian, Li Wei, and Gu Jiahui—stood out with their solid practical achievements, innovative service models, and outstanding professional capabilities. They successfully clinched the Gold Award for their project “Social ‘Worry-Free Station’: A Social Work Practice Project Empowering Social Engagement in Higher Education Institutions.”

As the province’s inaugural major competition focused on social work and volunteer services, the event was jointly organized by the Social Work Department of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee and the Jiangxi Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, with JUFE serving as the host. It aimed to establish a platform for showcasing and exchanging practices, guiding social forces to engage in grassroots governance and public welfare services, mobilizing volunteer efforts to advance the 15th Five-Year Plan, and supporting the modernization of Jiangxi through high-quality volunteer service development. Launched in August 2025, the competition attracted participation from 11 prefecture-level cities, 18 provincial departments, and 17 provincial universities across the province. It gathered 246 entries spanning multiple fields. After rigorous screening through preliminary, quarterfinal, and semifinal rounds, 35 projects demonstrating both innovation and practical value advanced to the finals, showcasing the vibrant vitality of related endeavors in Jiangxi.
Upon receiving the competition notice, the leadership of JUFE School of Sociology and Humanities prioritized the initiative, proactively coordinating resources to guide students in rapid preparation. During the preliminary round, the team focused on strengthening the project’s foundation: systematically organizing recent practical experience to establish a three-dimensional empowerment system encompassing individual, interpersonal, and environmental dimensions; integrating case studies and service impact data into a cohesive presentation; and refining these into logically rigorous application materials. Ultimately, the project advanced to the semi-finals with its standout strengths: precise problem focus and robust data support.
For the semi-finals, the team prioritized professional presentation. Within the 8-minute time limit, members refined the PowerPoint repeatedly, innovatively incorporating footage from the “Seven-Color Flower” music therapy group activity. This replaced textual descriptions with vivid scenes, enhancing the presentation’s impact. Throughout preparations, team members frequently spent entire days in workshops at the “Azalea” Campus Social Work Station. Some worked through the night optimizing data visualization charts, while others meticulously refined pitch scripts word by word. This collaborative spirit proved pivotal in advancing to the finals.

At the finals, the project’s “professional depth + practical warmth” emerged as its core highlight. Through concise results presentation and clear logical exposition, the team fully demonstrated the project’s outstanding advantages in service model, practical effectiveness, and promotional value. Ultimately, they secured the gold award with their solid foundation and distinctive characteristics.

This accolade not only showcases JUFE’s solid achievements in social work program development but also reflects School of Sociology and Humanities’ proactive exploration and outstanding results in practice-based education and deepening university-community integration. Looking ahead, JUFE School of Sociology and Humanities will leverage this award to continuously refine its talent cultivation model integrating “professional theory and practical innovation,” extend project services to surrounding universities and communities, and strive tirelessly to cultivate social work professionals equipped with both professional expertise and humanistic compassion.
