From February 24 to 26, 2026, Dr. Ouyang Lihua, a faculty member of JUFESchool of Sociology and Humanities,funded by the Special Program for Rural Revitalization TalentTraining of the China Scholarship Council, accepted the invitationfrom Professor Huang Guangwei, Dean ofGraduate School of Global Environmental Studies at Sophia University in Japan, and formed ascientific research expedition team themed Environmental Resources and HumanitieswithPhD and master students. The team went to Sado Island in NiigataPrefecture to carry out a three-day academic research activityinvolving on-site sampling, testing and analysis. The purpose of this expedition is to conduct an in-depth study on water resources and their ecological and humanistic environment, and meanwhile conduct research on ResourceDevelopment and Utilization as well as Ecological and HumanisticEnvironmental Protectionin combination with the unique natural and cultural heritage of the region.

The expedition team collected samples at various locations around LakeKamo in succession, and learned about the profound historical andcultural heritage of Sado Island as well as its ecological environmental protection measures, including the protection of the Sado Kinzan Heritage Site and the conservation of the Crested IbisEcological Zone supported by the breeding of Chinese Crested Ibiseson the island. During this trip to Sado Island, Dr. Ouyang not only obtained valuable first-hand data, but also broadened her humanistic horizons through the integration of history and nature, which further promoted the international cooperation and exchanges in scientific research between JUFEand Sophia University.
