FromNovember 1st to 2nd, 2025, the 2025 Academic Annual Conference of theSocial Policy Research Committee of the Chinese SociologicalAssociation and the 20th International Forum on Social Policy wereheld at Nankai University in Tianjin. The conference was sponsored bythe Social Policy Research Committee of the Chinese SociologicalAssociation and the School of Sociology of Nankai University,undertaken by the Department of Social Work and Social Policy and theInstitute of Social Construction and Management of Nankai University,and co-organized by Nankai Journal. More than 180 experts, scholars,teachers and students from 76 units attended the conference,including 11 international universities such as University of Oxford,University of York, University of Leeds, University of New SouthWales, University of Melbourne, and University of Toronto; domesticuniversities such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, RenminUniversity of China, Fudan University, and Nankai University;research institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Social Sciencesand Shandong Academy of Social Sciences; and academic journals suchas Nankai Journal and Tianjin Social Sciences. They gathered todiscuss the theme of “Towards a More Equitable, Balanced, Inclusiveand Accessible Social Policy”. More than ten faculty and studentsfrom JUFE School of Sociology and Humanities, including Vice DeanHong Lumin, Professor Yin Pingjun, Associate Professor Wang Zheng,and Dr. Yuan Xiaomei, participated in the conference forexchanges.

Onthe morning of the 1st, the conference kicked off grandly at NankaiUniversity. At the beginning of the opening ceremony, Liang Qi,Deputy Party Secretary of Nankai University, delivered a welcomespeech. Professor Zhao Deyu delivered the opening speech of theconference. He emphasized that in the past 20 years, China’s socialpolicy has undergone tremendous changes in practice, and continuouslypromoting social policy to be more equitable, balanced, inclusive andaccessible is the direction and trend for the whole society to strivefor in the future. The opening ceremony of the forum was hosted byProfessor Wu Fan, Vice Dean of School of Sociology of NankaiUniversity and Deputy Director of the Social Policy ResearchCommittee of the Chinese SociologicalAssociation.

Markingthe 20th anniversary of the International Forum on Social Policy, aspecial commemorative ceremony was held. Professor Guan Xinping, theformer Chairman of the Social Policy Research Committee of theChinese Sociological Association, Researcher Yang Tuan, the formerChairman of the Social Policy Research Committee of the ChineseSociological Association, and the Secretary-General Fang Lijie of theSocial Policy Research Committee of the Chinese SociologicalAssociation presented commemorative plaques to universities andresearch institutions that had hosted/organized the InternationalForum on Social Policy over the past 20 years. Professor Hong Luminaccepted the commemorative plaque on behalf of JUFE (host of the 13thforum).

Withthe theme of “Towards a More Equitable, Balanced, Inclusive andAccessible Social Policy”, this grand event brought togetherexperts, scholars, faculty and students from international anddomestic universities, research institutes and academic journals toconduct in-depth discussions on cutting-edge theories, methodologicalinnovations and practical applications in various core fields ofsocial policy. They jointly discussed the development plan of socialpolicy and contributed valuable academic wisdom and practicalsolutions to the new construction of the social policy system in thenewera.
Atthe same time, it also provided an excellent opportunity for facultyand students of JUFE to connect with the academic frontier. Facultyand students were able to listen to the insights of authoritativeexperts in various fields up close, broaden their academic horizons,and inspired research inspiration. In the exchanges and interactionswith peers, they accurately identified the innovation points andbreakthrough directions of their own research, improved thepertinence and depth of research, guided teachers and students to paymore attention to social reality needs, enhanced their sense ofsocial responsibility and mission, and contributed to promoting themodernization of the social governancesystem.
