On18 October 2025, the School of Sociology and HumanitiesofJiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) hosted adelegation from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universityof Portsmouth, led by Dr Jacqueline Priego. The two parties heldin-depth discussions on key areas including faculty and studentsexchange programmes, as well as collaborative educational initiativesbetween Chinese and international higher education institutions.

Attendeesfrom University of Portsmouth were Dr.Jacqueline Priego, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Arts and SocialSciences, and Ms.Tana Ai, Marketing Manager of the China Officeof Universityof Portsmouth.
First,Dr Jacqueline Priego provided a comprehensive overview of Universityof Portsmouth’s academic strengths, core achievements, and currenteducational development landscape. She highlighted that theuniversity consistsoffive major faculties, namely:theFaculty of Engineering; the Faculty of Health and Safety; the Facultyof Business and Law; the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries;and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Shefurther elaborated on the undergraduate and postgraduate programsoffered by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, coveringdisciplines such as Sociology, Criminology and Forensic Studies,English Language and Literature, Education, Modern Languages,History, Politics, and International Relations. Additionally, sheintroduced key programs of the Faculty of Business and Law.

Subsequently,Prof.Hong Lumin outlined the development status, academic features, andoperational framework of the School of Sociology and Humanities, witha focused emphasis on programs that align with University ofPortsmouth’s disciplinary strengths. Sheproposed five potential areas for bilateral cooperation:exchangingvisiting scholars to facilitate academic knowledge sharing; launchingjoint student training programs to enhance cross-cultural learning;inviting overseas academics for short-term teaching assignments toenrich course content; carrying out collaborative research on topicslike sociological studies and international relations; and developingChinese-foreigncooperative education initiatives such as "1+1+1"postgraduate and "2+1" undergraduate programmes.

Followingthis, Dr.Sun Maogang detailed the academic programs and research focuses ofthe School of International Economics and Politics, particularlyhighlighting programs related to international relations and globaleconomics. All attendees then engaged in in-depth discussions on thefeasibility, implementation pathways, and expected outcomes of theproposed cooperation models, with constructive feedback exchangedfrom both sides.


Theexchange concluded with a gift-exchange ceremony and a group photosession. Both parties reaffirmed their sincere friendship andexpressed high expectations for sustained academic exchanges, deeperdisciplinary collaboration, and long-term partnership in the future.
