Heldfrom July 29 to August 1, 2025, the International PostgraduateRoundtable Conference and Research Forum & Summer School(IPRRFSS), organized by The Education University of Hong Kong(EdUHK), took place at EdUHK's Tai Po Campus. The forum attractedexperts and scholars from countries including India, the UK, Japan,China, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, and the United States,among others. Led by Vice Dean Hong Lumin of the School of Sociologyand Humanities at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE)and Dean Huang Guangwei of the Graduate School of Earth EnvironmentalSciences at Sophia University, Japan, Chen Xuetao, a 2023 Master ofSocial Work student from JUFE's School of Sociology and Humanities,alongside students from Sophia University, participated in thisforum.

Centeredon the theme “Interdisciplinary Frontiers: Exploring Ideas,Language, and the Environment to Achieve a Sustainable Future,” theforum featured keynote speeches, roundtable discussions, and parallelsessions.Inthe keynote speech segment, Professor LU Xiaofei from PennsylvaniaState University in the United States proposed new pathways forAI-enabled teaching, exploring how to support cross-genre rhetoricaland linguistic features through different functionalities from agenerative AI perspective; Professor HONG YingYi from the ChineseUniversity of Hong Kong revealed how subjective poverty influencesdecision-making behavior, health, and neurobiological performancethrough psychological and sociological mechanisms, thereby achievingthe goal of poverty alleviation; Dr. Csilla WENINGER from NanyangTechnological University in Singapore analyzed a critical frameworkfor digital literacy in the context of generative AI tools based onsociocultural theory. Roundtable discussions included a dialoguesession with the keynote speakers, as well as an alumni roundtabletitled “From Campus to Workplace: Alumni Networks Promoting CareerDevelopment.”

Parallelsessions centered on themes including language, psychologicaleducation, and environmental science, where scholars engaged inacademic exchange within their respective fields. During thepresentation sessions, students from the JUFE School of Sociology andHumanities and Sophia University delivered academic reports,showcasing their research and engaging with international scholarshipon environmental protection and education. Covering topics such as:“Practical Explorations of Social Work Participation in MajorDisasters from an Environmental Justice Perspective,” “TheDynamic Impact of Natural Disasters on Regional TechnologicalInnovation After Major Earthquakes,” “A Study on the DistributionCharacteristics of Microplastics in Lake Yanaka,” “From Awarenessto Responsibility: Rethinking the Goals of Environmental Education,”and “An Economic and Environmental Benefits Analysis of ElectricVehicle Fast Charging Stations Based on Wind Power, PhotovoltaicPower Generation, and Energy Storage.”

Thisparticipation marks an achievement of the international talentcultivation collaboration between JUFE's School of Sociology andHumanities, Sophia University, and EdUHK. It provided a platform foracademic exchange between the students and international experts,broadening their academic horizons and enhancing their cross-culturalcommunication skills.Movingforward, the School of Sociology and Humanities will continue topromote international academic exchange and cooperation, adoptingbroader perspectives and implementing concrete measures to advanceits goals of "digitalization, greenization, andinternationalization" in education. The School remains committedto cultivating high-level talent equipped with both national prideand global competence to contribute to advancing social governance.
