The School of Humanities was established in July 2002, it integrated by Department of Social Science of the original School of Humanities and the Department of Chinese, Department of Journalism and Department of Communications based on the original School of Arts and Communications.

            The School of Humanities has four teaching departments: the Chinese literature Department, the Journalism and Communications Department, the Culture Industry Management Department and the Sociology Department. 
           

            It has 6 master's degree programs: Ancient Chinese Literature, Journalism and Communication,Drama and Film Arts. Among them, "Sociology" is a key discipline in Jiangxi province. In addition, the Master of Social Work Degree (MSW) is one of the first recruitment units approved in July 2009. The professional Master of Journalism and Communication ( MJC) was approved in 2014.

            The number of faculty and staff amount to 71, of whom 13 are professors, 17 are associate professors, 37 have doctoral degrees, in the past five years, the school has published more than 200 papers in core academic journals, 30 papers were published by top academic journals or reprinted by "Xinhua Digest" and "People's Congress Newspaper Copy Data". In addition, the faculty of the school has been granted 19 projects funded by National Social Science Foundations.

            As to International cooperation and exchange, the school has built collaborative relationships with many universities overseas, such as Duke University, Michigan State University, California State University, University of Missouri, Arizona State University, University of Virginia, University of Strathclyde in UK, Kyoto University in Japan and Edith Cowan University in Australia, and many others.
